MFOH Module 2 Highlights- Women’s Health at Work

Over the past 5 weeks, the Media Fellowship in Occupational Health (MFOH) has continued its journey through Module 2: Women’s Health at Work, exploring how gender intersects with workplace health, safety, policy, and media representation.

Week 5 :
We explored the intersection of gender and occupational health, focusing on women in safety-critical and informal work environments. Discussions highlighted the unique risks women face, the gender biases embedded in workplace systems and design, and overlooked issues such as fertility, menopause, and the lack of gender-responsive personal protective equipment (PPE).

Week 6:
The session focused on gender sensitivity in the media through an engaging session led by Roaa Elhag. Fellows discussed inclusive storytelling, ethical representation, and practical approaches to ensuring women’s voices and lived experiences are accurately and respectfully reflected in occupational health reporting.

Week 7 :
Sessions examined women’s occupational health from a legal perspective, exploring labor laws, workplace protections, maternity rights, discrimination, harassment, and accountability mechanisms. Fellows reflected on how legal frameworks can strengthen reporting and support advocacy for safer and more equitable workplaces.

Week 8:
We focused on storytelling and advocacy for women’s occupational health and safety (OHS), exploring how human-centered narratives can turn complex workplace health challenges into impactful stories that raise awareness, influence policy conversations, and inspire action.

The completion of this module marks another important milestone in the fellowship’s mission to strengthen occupational health reporting and amplify conversations around gender equity, workplace safety, and social justice.
