This event promises to be an enriching experience\, providing valuable knowledge and fostering collaboration among healthcare workers committed to improving workplace health and safety. \nSPEAKERS \nDR. OMER EL NAGIEB\, MD MSC FFOM \nCONSULTANT OCCUPATIONAL PHYSICIAN \nDr El Nagieb is a senior consultant in occupational medicine with more than 20 years of experience across the full spectrum of occupational health. \nHe graduated from the University of Khartoum and trained initially as an orthopaedic surgeon. He completed his accredited training in occupational medicine through the Faculty of Occupational Medicine London and the University of Manchester\, obtaining a Membership of the Faculty and an MSc in Occupational Medicine from the University of Manchester. He worked across the full spectrum of OH in the UK before moving to the Middle East – the UAE -Abu Dhabi.\nHe established the modern OH services for the oil and gas industry and played a major role supporting education and training in OH in the region; using his position as an Honorary lecturer in Occupational medicine with the University of Manchester.\nHe was awarded the Fellowship of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine London to acknowledge his efforts in training and education in Occupational medicine. \nDr El Nagieb returned back to the UK to lead the OH service for the London Fire Brigade as the Chief Medical Officer. He worked with colleagues to revise the fitness standards for recruitment and retention in the fire and rescue services in the\nfor the Brigade. \nDr El Nagieb served as the Federal Minister of Health for the Sudan and remained in the job until November 2021. During the tenure of his role he worked with colleagues and international health partners to rebuild the health system and\npromote and expand OH in the Sudan and the region. Dr El Nagieb; with colleagues has founded the Centre of Occupational and Environmental Health – Africa to continue the ambitious program of expanding OH in the continent through education\, training\, and basic OH service provision. \n  \nDR.SHAKER LASHUEL \nEXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF GLOBAL STUDIES INSTITUTE \nDr. Shaker A. Lashuel is the current executive director of the Global Studies Institute. Before joining GSI\, Dr. Lashuel worked in Jeddah\, Saudi Arabia as the Scientific Support Program Manager at AlMuallem Center for Knowledge and Education\, overseeing funding for higher education initiatives and institutions within and abroad. \nHowever\, it was in New York City where Dr. Lashuel initially launched his education career in 1996\, working for the NYC Department of Education for 15 years. It was during this time that he taught science and technology while holding training and administrative-based roles at the school level. In 2009\, he joined a district-level team that supervised and supported teaching and learning across district schools. \nDr. Lashuel has written several articles and books\, including Improving Education: Practical Field Applications and Assessment Literacy for Educators in a Hurry\, both published by the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States. He also contributed to a book on the Houthi movement in Yemen and co-authored one on professional learning communities. In Qatar\, he has promoted professional development programs\, including Al applications in education. His academic background includes a bachelor’s in Geology (Brooklyn College)\, master’s degrees in science education (Long Island University) and school management (Moreland University)\, a Harvard certification\, and a doctorate in educational technology (Pace University). \n\nMR. NASSER JEHAM ABDEL-AZIZ AL KUWARI \nFORMER CEO OF QAFAC AND QCHEM \nMr. Nasser Jeham Abdel-Aziz Al Kuwari is a distinguished leader in the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical industries\, with over 30 years of expertise. He has served as CEO of both Qatar Fuel Additives Company (QAFAC) and Qatar Chemical Company (Q-Chem)\, leading these organizations to new heights. In addition\, he has held numerous board positions across major oil and gas companies in Qatar\, where his strategic vision and leadership have had a lasting impact on the industry. \n  \nMR. MOHAMMED SHBEB \nCERTIFIED TRAINER IN MENTAL HEALTH AND PATIENT SAFETY \nMr. Mohammed Shbeb is a certified trainer specializing in mental health and patient safety.He focuses on improving the mental well-being of healthcare professionals and implementing occupational safety standards in healthcare environments. With extensive experience in delivering training programs aimed at enhancing mental health in healthcare institutions\, he also ensures patient safety. In addition to his training expertise\, Mohammed plays a key role in quality auditing and risk\nmanagement\, contributing to the overall quality of healthcare services. He is currently employed by the Ministry of Health in Qatar.

She is responsible for supporting WHO technical work in occupational health\, including development and implementation of occupational health and safety programmes for health workers in different countries. \nPrior to joining WHO\, Dr. Ngajilo worked in the Ministry of Health of her native country\, Tanzania\, as an Occupational Medicine Physician and a technical advisor to the Tanzanian Workers Compensation Fund (WCF) and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OSHA). \nDr. Ngajilo is a medical doctor with Occupational Medicine specialty training from the University of Cape Town\, South Africa. She is also a Fellow of the College of Public Health Medicine (Occupational Medicine) of South Africa. \n  \nDr Laurence Boakye has been a consultant in occupational medicine in the UK for almost 20 years. He works as a consultant in the NHS and is a senior medical director for healthcare for a large UK private occupational health provider. \nHe is a specialist in occupational health provision for healthcare workers and has a special interest in managing needle stick injuries\, tuberculosis\, hepatitis B immunization\, and work-related stress. He has written several occupational health policies which include policies on the management of needle stick injuries\, occupational health aspects of tuberculosis management\, and immunization policies. \nHe has been involved in training occupational medicine physicians since 2007 and has held several senior training positions including Training Programme Director\, Medical Director of Training\, and is an accredited educational and clinical supervisor. He is an examiner and CESR assessor for the Faculty of Occupational Medicine. \n  \nDr Omer Elawad is a highly accomplished medical professional. A graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Gezira\, he holds a Master’s degree in Health Professions Education and a medical doctorate in internal medicine from the Sudan Medical Specialization Board (SMSB). As a mentor at Project ECHO\, Dr. Elawad is dedicated to fostering the growth of healthcare professionals. He is also the author of a book on the management of common medical emergencies in Sudan. \n  \nDr Atem Nathan Riak ANYUON is a distinguished public health expert with extensive experience in East Africa. As the Director General of the Directorate of Primary Health Care at the Ministry of Health in South Sudan\, Dr. Anyuon has been instrumental in shaping and implementing primary healthcare policies and programs across the country. His leadership and expertise have significantly contributed to improving health outcomes and access to quality healthcare services for communities in South Sudan and the broader East African region. \n  \nDr Hiba Omer Ibrahim is the esteemed President of the Sudan Doctors’ Syndicate\, leading the organization in its response to the ongoing conflict in Sudan. In addition to her pivotal role as a syndicate leader\, Dr. Ibrahim is also a dedicated surgeon. Her unique perspective and dual responsibilities allow her to provide valuable insights into the challenges and experiences faced by healthcare professionals on the frontline. Dr. Ibrahim’s leadership and commitment are instrumental in navigating the complexities of healthcare delivery in conflict settings\, and she continues to advocate for the safety and well-being of medical practitioners in Sudan. \n  \nDr David O. Okello brings over 40 years of national and international public health experience to his role at ACHEST. A seasoned public health physician\, he has held leadership positions within the World Health Organization (WHO) and academic institutions. Dr Okello’s expertise lies in health systems strengthening\, disease prevention\, and intersectoral collaboration. \nAt ACHEST\, he leads initiatives to promote health systems resilience and engage rural communities in responding to health crises such as COVID-19. His work informs policy advice and empowers communities to take ownership of their health outcomes. Dr Okello also conducts research on intersectoral collaboration to advance Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). \nDuring his tenure at WHO\, he served as Country Representative in several African countries and directed initiatives on AIDS\, TB\, and Malaria. Dr Okello’s academic contributions include senior lectureship at Makerere University Medical School\, where he trained future medical professionals and spearheaded Health Systems Research for the Uganda Ministry of Health. \nDr Okello holds degrees from Makerere University and Newcastle University\, Australia\, and is a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.
