International Workers’ Day 2026

This Workers’ Day, we must also recognise the cost of ignoring worker health.

Across Africa, rapid growth in industries like mining, construction, agriculture, and manufacturing is driving progress but also increasing exposure to serious health and environmental hazards.

The cost is often unseen:
– Burnout
– Occupational injuries
– Chronic illnesses
– Lost productivity

But the reality is clear: When worker health is compromised, entire systems are weakened.

At the Centre for Occupational & Environmental Health Africa (COEHA), we’re working to close the gap through training, research, and partnerships that expand access to essential occupational health services.
