Module 1 Highlights- Media Fellowship on Occupational Health

Over the past month, the Media Fellowship on Occupational Health has brought fellows together for an engaging journey where health and storytelling meet.

We kicked off with weeks 1 and 2, where participants built a foundation in OHS, examined workplace risks affecting vulnerable groups, and began developing an evidence-based approach to reporting.

In Week 3 the focus shifted to data and ethics in health reporting. Fellows strengthened their ability to interpret occupational health data, work with statistics, and access reliable public information. The session also emphasized ethical journalism, highlighting accuracy, responsibility, and the importance of protecting sources while avoiding misinformation.

By Week 4, fellows moved into project development and collaboration. Participants presented their story ideas, shared early findings, and refined their angles with guidance from mentors and peers. Discussions centred on strengthening story structure, refining research approaches, and ensuring that each project remains grounded in evidence-based reporting and strong occupational health perspectives.

This marks the end of  Module 1 of the program. As we move forward, fellows are now better equipped to produce impactful, responsible, and date-driven stories that bring visibility to workplace health challenges.
